Today I received my first “Book Blogger” review by Shannan at “Girlsinthestacks.com.”

As if another puzzle piece of my overall dream has come true, the feeling of seeing my book cover on someone else’s website is overwhelming.

Shannan gave me a fabulous review as well as 4.5 out of 5 Stacks as my final rating, and I am both exciting and relieved that my writing pleased her.  I literally chewed off most of my fingernails in anticipation.  Now I can let them grow back and maybe even polish them again one day.

In all honesty, I’ve been scared to death, fearing what negative things any reader might have to say about my storyline, plot, character development, and everything else contained in between the front and back covers.  This is a risk you take when you ask for anyone’s opinion on anything.  You have to take the good with the bad.  I’m just relieved that it’s all been good.  I’ll probably be reduced to tears when someone actually informs me of the bad.

Shannan did mention my use of “terms of endearment,” such as “sweetheart” and “honey.   If that was one of the few things she didn’t care for in my novel, then my answer to that is “PHEW!!!”

I (unfortunately) call my husband “honey” all the time.  I only use his real name when he 1) doesn’t hear me the first 10 times I’ve yelled “honey,”  2) when we are out in a crowd or at the grocery store and he’s taking too long to pick out salad dressing, 3) when I’m in a serious mood or worse – mad.

I am also thrilled (and I mean this in the nicest way) that I was able to reduce Shannan to tears.  That means I was able to affect a reader emotionally.   What’s even more important to me as a writer is if I can get the feelings to linger in you long after you’ve finished reading.

Thank You, Shannan, for your wonderful compliments and for allowing me to place my book in your hands.  I hope the other “Stack Girls” read it too!
